It provides an opportunity for students to explore the governmental, judicial and cultural institutions of Canada, meet experts in the theme of the week, and make friends with other participants from across Canada.Ī multitude of mini-courses are offered annually at Queen’s University to provide a taste of university style learning. This one-week program runs throughout the year at the Terry Fox Centre in Ottawa. Historically, council has enjoyed the full support of students at dances and other functions. Grade 9 representatives are elected in October after they have settled into school routines and are familiar with council and its functions. The council consists of an executive and elected representative from each grade level in the school. Often, a portion of the proceeds from school dances and other fundraisers is donated to local charities. In addition, the council organizes buyouts and food drives to help support local community agencies. The council plans and supports a broad range of activities for students throughout the year and financially supports school clubs, activities and athletics. Students are selected from grades 10, 11, 12 and meet weekly to plan athletic events including the end of year athletic banquetĭeemed one of the most active schools in the board, Myer’s Student Council plays an integral part in the lives of numerous students. The Athletic Association is made up of volunteers who assist in refereeing, scheduling and organizing intramural activities. They also produce the annual talent Show and the Winter and Spring Shows. Its mandate is to promote and raise the profile of all the Arts throughout the school. The Arts Council is an elected group of students that represents the Arts (Drama, Dance, Visual Arts and Music) at Myer.
